LET THE SUN SHINE IN

Did you see the Walton Sun article today about the Seagrove beach front owners facing the costs of
removing Seawalls and Geo tubes because they did not have the proper permits ????

This could have been YOU.

Signs of new signs...

What Do I think of those new signs ?
As they say over in Mississippi, "I Lack Em"
I think they fit this berg to a "t".

Now if those new street lights are this well thought out we just might have a first class neighborhood to attract some more new homeowners.....

SIGNS of FALL...

I just love this time of year.
And I really love the fact that things start to improve on this property 30 days or so before an election. It's just uncanny.
last year it was the center Island that was planted with Palms right before the homeowners
meeting and this year Posts are being planted in the ground .... we are men of action people.

So can we have an election at least twice a year?
That way more will get done. It is logical.

Whatever.

goings on up the beach

Man those dunes are looking nice and green in front of the Adagio condos to the East of us.

Meanwhile, our dunes continue to erode due in large part to rains storms which have continued to add the slope (along with winds) that you see to our dunes.
And our beach is very very wide.

I would like to see the PTB (powers that be) put out some sand starting the day Hurricane season ends and get the dune doctors over here to plant sea oats etc. and put up dune fences.
Talk about a good looking beach.
We would stand a good chance of landing a few choice articles like: THE RETREAT, the Emerald Coasts Natural beach, 3000 feet of turtle friendly beach, etc. etc.

A large condo association down the road just threw out their entire board of directors .
They had a no confidence vote (led by a real estate agent) and got the votes.
Condo associations are somewhat different than Homeowners Associations but this does show
that owners of both are becomming more active and involved in whats going on with the management of their associations.

fixing a hole

Thanks John Paul George and Ringo,

You Made growing up bearable.

Fixing a Hole Lyrics by The Beatles ( Lennon/McCartney)

I'm fixing a hole where the rain gets in And stops my mind from wandering
Where it will go
I'm filling the cracks that ran through the doorAnd kept my mind from wandering
Where it will go
And it really doesn't matter if I'm wrong I'm right Where I belong I'm right Where I belong
See the people standing there Who disagree and never win
And wonder why they don't get in my door
I'm painting my room in a colourful way And when my mind is wandering
There I will go Ooh ooh ooh ah ahHey, hey, hey, hey
And it really doesn't matter if I'm wrong I'm right Where I belong I'm right Where I belong
Silly people run around They worry me and never ask me Why they don't get past my door
I'm taking the time for a number of things That weren't important yesterday
And I still go Ooh ooh ooh ah ah
I'm fixing a hole where the rain gets in and Stops my mind from wandering
Where it will go oh Where it will go oh
I'm fixing a hole where the rain gets in And stops my mind from wandering
Where it will go

My new friend, El Niño

As most of you know, El Niño conditions put a major damper on both the number and intensity of Atlantic tropical cyclones. This is primarily due to increased wind shear.

Typical El Niño effects are likely to develop over North America during the upcoming winter season. Those include warmer-than-average temperatures over western and central Canada, and over the western and northern United States. Wetter-than-average conditions are likely over portions of the U.S. Gulf Coast and Florida, while drier-than-average conditions can be expected in the Ohio Valley, the Pacific Northwest, and most of the U.S.-affiliated islands in the north tropical Pacific.

New York New York,

So much there and such a counter point to 30-A

I think I see what all those New Yawker's are doing flying back and forth between New York City and Florida.....

It's like sweet and salty....

Back and forth over and over .... counterpoint... like Those two sisters Yin and Yang.

Better a Niche to be...

With wall street dropping 75 points on bad news from major hombuilders we realize that our little corner of the world is really a niche market or a micro market as I like to refer to it.
Sometimes it's better to be a niche in the rock than to be the rock.
And remember... Being big didn't save the Dinosaur's

Tink about it....

And I say "It's always NOW everywhere".

Experts Are Confounded

As you and I read this AFTER LABOR DAY with no major storm activity this season (knock
on wood) experts are scratching their heads about how this 2006 season can follow the Hellacious storm season of 2005......

WE ARE in September though, the month that started with IVAN two, yes 2 Years ago this month. Man, how about those Dune Doctors planting 30,000 plants on the dunes at Alys Beach and only 6 plants have died. Are we stuck on stupid?
This is surprising because we have all achieved the where with al to live in the Retreat by various means and should be the smartest people on the panhandle.
Why do they call it common sense when it is anything but common?

Bumper Sticker for Grayton Beach: Grayton Beach; nice dogs, Strange people.
Bumper sticker idea for the Retreat: The Retreat; Nice People, Weird Karma.

This post has been a simulated conversation over coffee with yours truly . Had this been an actual conversation it would have been longer and you would of, I hope, had something
interesting to say.

And remember what I always say,
Some people are a stream of Consciousness and some people are just a drip.

Ahhhh the holidays....

Isn't it nice going on holiday?

We have been enjoying the Music series/Street parties at the main intersection in WaterColor this weekend.
I did not see any of you Retreater's there tonight although I did spot some ex-retreater's there amongst the crowd and of course some of us have dual citizenship. Good music and good wine and kudos to the fine folks at Ceruleans who promoted this mini music fest .
