Beach Access for the Boomers
The campaign (press release below) by the surfrider.org dovetails into the whole Lobbying/Seawall manufacturers/dredging companies triangle. last time I checked there are a heck of a lot more people in America than there were in 1975. The boomers continue to change society every time they enter a new stage of life.... As more and more retire with more wealth than the generations before them they are buying second homes on or near the coast and they want to go to the beach...... Only the rich and very rich will be able to afford the costs and risks of owning Gulf front property in the USA. This is going to set up a classic middle class vs. upper class fight about getting access to the beach. Beach renourishment gives an avenue for more access through more government control. So politics makes strange bedfellows one more time. | ||||||||||||||||||||
